HSV is excited to announce the addition of actor and comedian, Stephen Curry, to its stable of official brand ambassadors.

Curry is one of Australia's most popular performers since becoming a household name with his breakout role as Dale Kerrigan in the much-loved Australian feature film classic, “The Castle”, in 1997. Since then, he has had leading roles in a host of films and television comedy and drama series’ and played some of our most memorable characters.

In 2007, Curry took on the challenging role of portraying one of Australia's most legendary personalities, Graham Kennedy, in the biopic “The King”. He received many awards for his portrayal including an AFI Award for Best Lead Actor in a television drama, a Silver Logie Award for Most Outstanding Actor in a Drama and the ASTRA Award for Most Outstanding Performance by an Actor.

Currently, Curry is playing the title role of Mr Black in the Network 10 comedy of the same name.

“We’re really excited that Steve has chosen to join our team. His deeds in the performing arts are obviously well known but what has impressed us most is his genuine passion for the HSV brand”, said HSV’s General Manager – Marketing, Damon Paull. “From our very first meeting, his enthusiasm was infectious and we knew he was the style of person we wanted to be involved with”, Paull said.

Only yesterday, Curry was overheard at the barber boasting, “My SportsCat’s got a 3,500kg towing capacity, which means I can pretty much fill up my trailer with about 1,500 bricks and a couple of ladders. Sure, the trailer will disintegrate, but my SportsCat’s gonna be sweet and that’s the important thing. Short back and sides, thanks, Gary”.

Curry joins rugby league legend, Cameron Smith, 4-time Bathurst winner, Greg Murphy, and freestyle motocross rider, Robbie Maddison, as an official HSV ambassador.

Whilst Curry has never been actively involved in the above sports, he maintains a strong connection. “I once went to the State of Origin, my Aunt Jenny attended uni in Bathurst and my kid rides a pee-wee 50, so I’m pretty much in the same league as these guys”, he said.

As part of his ambassadorial role, Curry will have an active involvement in a variety of HSV activities. Fans can expect to see him communicating with them via HSV’s social media forums, no doubt in his own, irreverent manner.

Just this morning, Curry was overheard telling his local green-grocer, “My new SportsCat’s glorious. And it’s orange, which incidentally is the same colour as oranges. And I don’t need to tell you how awesome they are. Can I have seven seedless grapes, please?”

Unnecessary over-sharing aside, we’re pretty sure Curry’s happy to be with HSV. And we’re pretty happy to have him on-board.
