Launched in May, 2013, the HSV GEN-F range of vehicles was the greatest range of performance production cars ever built in Australia.

In addition to the ground-breaking GTS, powered by a 6.2 litre Supercharged LSA V8 delivering 430 kilowatts of power and 740 Newton-metres of torque, the range received the most significant styling makeover since E-Series including new front and rear fascia’s, tail-lamps, wheels and spoilers.

The HSV E Series 3 range of vehicles was launched in September, 2010

The result, an all new interior across the range and the introduction of a range of new technologies including an Enhanced Driver Interface, Liquid Propane Injection and Side Blind Zone Alert. In 2012, HSV re-introduced the ClubSport and Maloo into the range.

2009: E Series 2

E Series 2 was launched in 2009 and featured a substantial design update of the existing E Series model range.

Along with the introduction of Daytime Running Lamps, a range of other “Australian firsts” included Competition Mode ESC, 20 x 8.5 inch front wheels and Intelligent Launch Control. The range included ClubSport R8, ClubSport R8 Tourer, Maloo R8, GTS, Senator Signature and Grange.

The E Series journey began with a blank canvas and a mission statement to redefine every aspect of world-class performance car design.

The boundaries of product investment, testing and development were taken to unprecedented new levels. So the quest began to create the most powerful, technologically advanced and dynamic range of vehicles to date.

The result was a total of 301 end-to-end exclusive HSV modifications, including 307kW of power output, 550Nm of torque, a sports-tuned Electronic Stability Control system and the revolutionary Magnetic Ride Control suspension technology.

The HSV Z Series range was launched in October 2004 and featured the new, 297kW LS2 V8 engine in all models.

The range included a limited edition SV6000, of which just 50 were built, and the Maloo R8 which was crowned the “World’s Fastest Ute”, clocking an average speed of 271.44 km/h (168.7 mph) in the Federal Government’s Woomera Prohibited Area in outback South Australia.

Prominent with the launch in September 2003 of the Y Series 2 was the ClubSport R8 with its distinctive performance and sporty style.

It featured some very desirable new standard features – full leather upholstery, 19-inch wheels, Pirelli tyres and Performance suspension. HSV’s performance flagship, the GTS, also made a return along with the HSV GTO Coupe and HSV Coupe 4.

The launch of the Y Series ushered in a new era of sophistication

The Y Series range displays suave interior and exterior styling and high quality materials, including polypropylene injection moulded body components and the use of premium fabrics and leathers.

In October, 2000, HSV launched the VX Series.

The VX Series delivered an optimum level of styling distinctiveness and differentiation from the Holden Commodore, along with additional power from the LS1 engine. The range featured, among other models, an HSV VX Maloo, GTS and Limited Edition HSV VX Senator 300.

The VT Series was based on an all new body design and was the last series to feature the Australian 5.0 litre and 5.7 litre V8 engines.

The range included, amongst others, the Senator Signature Wagon, GTS and a range of 10th Anniversary limited edition models.

In April 1995, HSV launched the new generation VS range, which at the time, represented the pinnacle of Australian sports motoring.

From the powerful Manta to the sophistication of the Grange, there was a combination of style and performance that left little to the imagination. The VS series saw the introduction of an Integrated Security System (ISS) incorporating a microprocessor-controlled immobiliser. Models within the range included the HSV VS ClubSport, HSV VS Senator and HSV SV Manta.

With the release of the VR Series, and after considerable design and tooling investment, HSV confirmed its place as Australia’s leading niche manufacturer of world-class performance vehicles.

The range received a significant face-lift including the standardisation of ABS and IRS. Models within the range included, the HSV VR ClubSport, HSV VR Senator 215i and HSV VR GTS.

The HSV VP Series was launched in October 1991 and featured major mechanical upgrades, a re-styled body design and the introduction of six new exterior colours.

Independent Rear Suspension also became available on selected short wheelbase models. Vehicles in the range included the HSV VP ClubSport, HSV VPSV91 and a range of limited edition 5th Anniversary vehicles.

The VG series saw an all new HSV model introduced, the HSV VG Maloo, which was HSV’s first ever production utility.

Available in just Maranello Red and Alpine White, just 132 of these models were built and they featured a 180kW V8 engine and 16 x 7.0J x wheels.

The HSV VN Series was launched in August 1988 with a completely new body design and engines.

The standard engine was a V6 with fuel injection, while the standard V8 engine also featured fuel injection. Models within the range included the HSV SV89, which featured a 180kW engine, and the HSV VN SS Group A SV with a whopping 215kW of power.

The VL series holds a special place in HSV’s history with the SS Group A being the vehicle which launched the HSV brand.

Other models in the series include the HSV VL Calais SV88 and the HSV VL F20 SV.
